How did you hear about Covenant and why did you choose Covenant?

The community was so unique compared to other colleges I had visited. Students genuinely want to be here, pursue Christ, and learn alongside their peers. Their excitement is not fake. I also love the community here in Chattanooga. There's so much to do in the city and outdoors!

What aspect of Covenant do you like best?

The people! They know how to have serious fun while still honoring God.

What about the professors and/or academics has impacted you the most?

I love that professors want to mentor their students. They've invited entire classes over to their houses for meals and I've met with many of them for lunches on campus. Every class also incorporates a Biblical understanding of the material, and many of them have significantly grown and shaped my perspective of issues from poverty alleviation to unity throughout different church denominations to immigration, and so much more. Professors don't tell you what to believe, which I really appreciate, but they teach you how to think Biblically.

What part of your major do you most enjoy or feel most prepared by?

I appreciate that the language department connects its students to hands-on opportunities in Chattanooga to practice the language. For example, I've had the privilege of interpreting for a local school twice a year for their parent-teach conferences and volunteering at a local non-profit clinic that serves Spanish speakers.

What do you hope to pursue after Covenant and how do you see Covenant supporting your future career or calling?

I hope to interpret for Spanish-speaking immigrants and connect them with resources. I have already heard about potential jobs and organizations through my professors that I hope to look into after I graduate.

How is Covenant equipping you for active membership in the church or discipleship within the body of Christ?

Covenant does a great job encouraging involvement in a local church, including volunteering outside of Sunday mornings. By God's grace, the students at Covenant have fostered that culture so it's normal for anyone you meet to be involved with their church. If this culture did not exist, it would be all too easy to become disengaged with church life during my college years.

In what ways does Covenant foster spiritual formation that stands out to you?

Twice a year, Covenant cancels classes for a day to dedicate to prayer. It is a beautiful reminder in our busy lives to gather in community and be still before the Lord that is so unique to this place. Every hall also has a weekly time of prayer and praise that strengthens friendships and provides a really sweet space to grow in your relationship with the Lord alongside your hallmates.

How has the Covenant community supported your development as a whole person?

Every class integrates spirituality into the course material, whether it's directly learning about theology or an English professor praying at the beginning of class. The chapel department on campus also provides sweet mentors from fellow peers to faculty members. I love how everyone meets together for chapel weekly and the campus purposefully cancels classes during that time to allow us to sit with God and one another. It's so obvious that the faculty at Covenant seriously desire every students' growth and success.

How have your relationships at Covenant shaped your expectations for the other communities God will call you to in life?

I have met the most amazing friends here at Covenant. Knowing how God-glorifying and solid friendships can be because of these people, I want to spread this depth of relationship to the friends I meet later. These people speak the truth in love even when it's hard and reflect their love by their actions. Covenant's community also knows how to make lasting memories and fun adventures that make typical college party culture look boring.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Covenant?

There are way too many to count! It would have to be either the many times we've gone on weekend rock climbing/camping trips or the times my roommates and I have sat in our rooms and laughed until our stomachs hurt, teasing each other like siblings.
