How did you hear about Covenant and why did you choose Covenant?
I chose Covenant because it felt like home the moment I stepped onto campus. People were welcoming and kind, and I felt like the community was a place I could see myself investing in. I wanted to go to a school where I could be academically challenged, play softball, and also deepen my relationship with Christ.
What aspect of Covenant do you like best?
The location is incredibly beautiful! We get to see glimpses of God's glory daily.
What about the professors and/or academics has impacted you the most?
The psychology professors are truly the best around. They have worked to build relationships with all their students and have taught us to strive for excellence in all areas. Most professors desire to build relationships with their students which makes it an even richer educational experience.
What part of your major do you most enjoy or feel most prepared by?
I love the community of psych nerds! Everyone is so passionate to talk about facets of the discipline they care about. I also love seeing my professors talk about things they specialize in!
What do you hope to pursue after Covenant and how do you see Covenant supporting your future career or calling?
I hope to go on to become a school counselor working with kids, helping them understand some of their behaviors and experiences. Any opportunity to serve my community!
How is Covenant equipping you for active membership in the church or discipleship within the body of Christ?
Chapel has provided an opportunity to worship alongside fellow students. On Sundays, I am able to go downtown and worship with people from the Chattanooga area. Covenant has taught me how to better love and care for members of the church by making sure we observe the sabbath, encouraging us to go to church!
In what ways does Covenant foster spiritual formation that stands out to you?
The classes are very spiritually focused, whether they are in the Bible department or not. This helps us to integrate our discipline with the word of God which is such a blessing. It has stretched and grown my thinking for sure!
How has the Covenant community supported your development as a whole person?
As someone who has served in several leadership roles on campus, the Covenant community has poured into me and taught me what the love of Christ looks and feels like. The people I have met have changed me for the better, and that is all thanks to (God's Will) and Covenant! From professors to coaches to RDs to dining staff, they all have the students' best interest in mind and you can truly feel that wherever you go.
How have your relationships at Covenant shaped your expectations for the other communities God will call you to in life?
I have met some life long friends. God has shown me how to love and be loved through the amazing friends and teammates he has placed in my life. The people I have met push me daily to grow closer to Christ and they know I will do the same for them. These relationships have taught me how to truly cultivate healthy community with others.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Covenant?
Too many to pick! Any Day of Prayer, Mac Movie, softball home games, late night Blink runs, anything with my friends!
