How did you hear about Covenant and why did you choose Covenant?
I chose Covenant because I felt as though Covenant pursued a high level of academics through a strong Christian lens. I wanted to attend a college that prioritized a stimulating educational experience while maintaining a Biblical framework throughout. Covenant did not sacrifice one for the other, but pursued business with the goal of glorifying God and His creation through learning about the business world.
What aspect of Covenant do you like best?
My favorite aspect of Covenant is definitely the community of believers here. I am always surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ who seek to push each other to be the best versions of themself, while also keeping them accountable in the most loving and caring ways. Being a part of the men's soccer team and Covenant community has blessed me with lifelong friends, and has shown me what it looks like to be in a flourishing community of believers that looks to emulate the love of Christ in every relationship and interaction.
What about the professors and/or academics has impacted you the most?
I have been extremely impacted by professors who have taught me to see business through the lens of Christ. They have pushed me to see business as an opportunity to advance the Kingdom of Christ through what I am passionate about. They have challenged, stretched, and encouraged me as I take into consideration the world of business and finance. They have allowed me to create an ethical and theological foundation for what I believe business should look like, and why I believe Christians are so desperately needed in the world of business.
What part of your major do you most enjoy or feel most prepared by?
I have most enjoyed the high levels of collaboration I have experienced in the business major at Covenant. Being able to talk with professors and students to hear what they think about business has been extremely insightful for my growth and exploration of the business world. The diversity in thought that Covenant students and professors bring to the classroom allow for fruitful and stimulating conversations as we all look to glorify God through the work we do in business.
What do you hope to pursue after Covenant and how do you see Covenant supporting your future career or calling?
I will be pursuing a financial management position at a fully custom residential construction company in Nashville upon graduation and will bring all that I have learned from Covenant into my career. Covenant has taught me a lot, but has also encouraged and fired me up to join the world of business and operate in ways that are glorifying to God, even if they are countercultural. I am eager to be a Christian business leader and am excited to see how the Lord uses the business and financial industry for my good and His glory.
How is Covenant equipping you for active membership in the church or discipleship within the body of Christ?
Covenant has taught me exactly what discipleship looks like, through the community of believers I have been surrounded by. Being poured into by mature Christian professors, coaches, students, friends, and mentors has allowed me to see what practical and effective discipleship looks like. I am blessed to have had incredible mentors at Covenant and am eager to go out in the world and be that light to someone else.
In what ways does Covenant foster spiritual formation that stands out to you?
Covenant fosters spiritual formation in all that we do here as students. We are pushed in our disciplines and our faith as we are asked stimulating questions that test our foundation. Doing this in community allows for individual and communal growth as we help pull each other up. We look to grow and mature and flourish in every aspect of life as we seek to see Christ as truly being preeminent in all things.
How has the Covenant community supported your development as a whole person?
The Covenant community has provided resources in every area of my life as the Covenant experience looks to shape every aspect of who you are as an individual. I was excited to see what my experience at Covenant would do for me, but was more excited to see what my experience at Covenant would do to me. Covenant has changed my life and allowed me to grow and mature in ways that never would have been possible without this wonderful institution.
How have your relationships at Covenant shaped your expectations for the other communities God will call you to in life?
Simply put, Covenant has set the standard high for what Christian community should look like. I am forever thankful for the community I was a part of at Covenant and am eager to implement all that I have learned in the other communities God will call into my life. I have tasted and seen the goodness of strong Christian community and cannot wait to foster that wherever the Lord calls me.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Covenant?
My favorite memories from my time at Covenant range from winning three conference championships with the men's soccer team to living off campus in a house with ten guys (yes you read that right) to just laughing over a good meal in the Great Hall. These memories would not have been so enriching and overflowing with joy without the best friends that made them possible.
